Hi, I’m Garrett!

I was born and raised on a small family farm in Washington State. The Summers were filled with work, but throughout the school year, I lived for sports. I played football, basketball, and baseball with the other farm kids, and as I grew older, this served as my introduction to fitness.

I learned how to run, how to jump, how to throw and how to tackle..

I learned the importance of teamwork, and how to work and win together..

I learned that if I wanted to excel (and not get beat!), I had to develop my strength.

So I did. I spent hours in the gym, flailing around in a desperate attempt to build muscle. I had no idea what I was doing, but I was lucky enough to avoid an injury and learn the fundamentals over time.

I learned what worked and what didn't.

I learned how to burn fat, build muscle, and train for endurance.

I learned how to fuel that effort with a healthy, balanced diet.

I did this to become a better athlete, and the effort allowed me to have a memorable senior year, but I had accidentally stumbled into a much greater gift...

I learned how to take care of my body.

The gift that keeps on giving

Learning how to train and fuel my body served me well in high school, but in hindsight, the benefits were so much greater than that.

Where I used to slouch, I was standing tall.

Where I used to stutter and mumble, I was speaking clearly.

Where I used to hide my emotions, I was sharing them openly.

By the time I left the farm for college, I was a completely different person. I had the confidence to make new friends, try new things, and explore my interests. It was a gift - something that's improved my life ever since.

It gave me the strength to push through challenging times.

It gave me the confidence to meet my beautiful wife, Cassandra.

It gave me the energy to ski, surf, scuba dive, and so much more!

When it came to the classroom, I had one goal in mind.

Fitness changed my life, and I wanted to share that gift with others.

Before long, I was certified as a personal trainer, health coach, and fitness nutrition specialist through the American Council on Exercise. I began to share my expertise, crafting workout programs for family and friends whenever I could. I dove into every book I could find on the subject, and before long, I started writing my own thoughts.

These writings ultimately resulted in my first book, Fitness 101: A Beginner's Guide to a Strong, Healthy Body, which will be published for sale soon!

After eight years of in-person coaching, this site marks my official transition online. I'm so excited to support others from all over the world, helping them achieve their goals through my book, blog posts, pre-made programs, and online coaching services!
